The Leeds United forward has been linked with a temporary switch to Blackburn Rovers.
According to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Blackburn Rovers are keen on taking Leeds United striker Marcus Antonsson on loan this season, and that could be the best move for all concerned.
The Swedish forward arrived at Elland Road with a big reputation in his homeland, having scored for fun during his time at Kalmar. However things have not gone according to plan at Leeds, with the 26-year-old finding the net just three times in 21 appearances.

With last season’s top-scorer Chris Wood joined by Caleb Ekuban, Ezgjan Alioski and Samu Saiz at Leeds this summer, Antonsson has fallen well down the pecking order, and a loan move would allow him to get the game time he deserves while also allowing the Whites to see if he can cut it in English football, albeit at a lower level.
With two years remaining on his Leeds contract, Antonsson could use this season to prove his worth elsewhere before potentially having one last shot at Elland Road.
Considering his struggles for game time thus far the striker will feel he has unfinished business in English football, and if he fills his boots for Rovers and proves he has a future at Leeds he could be back with them just when he reaches his peak.
There is no doubt Antonsson possesses the innate talent to excel in front of goal and League One could be the ideal place for him to rediscover his form, potentially firing Blackburn to immediate promotion in the process and prompting Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen to rethink his fate.
