Liverpool supporters have reacted with mixed emotions on Twitter after they were drawn against German side Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Jurgen Klopp’s side produced mixed results during the group stages, as they suffered three away defeats and finished second behind group winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Now, the current Premier League leaders will come up against Bayern Munich, as Klopp will return to his native Germany hoping to progress to the next round.

Niko Kovac’s side topped Group E ahead of Dutch giants Ajax, winning four and drawing two of their encounters, but they have struggled in the Bundesliga during this campaign.

Last season, the Reds suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the final to Real Madrid and they will be hoping to go one better this time around by lifting a sixth European Cup.

As expected, Liverpool’s front three – Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane – will be key to their success, as will centre-back Virgil van Dijk.

When the news broke that the Merseyside club will face Bayern over two legs, Liverpool supporters on Twitter were both positive and apprehensive in equal measure.
