Tony Cascarino told talkSPORT that Tyrone Mings was ‘a little bit reckless’ during Aston Villa’s 2-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday evening.
Mings helped Villa secure another clean sheet and a win, but Cascarino thinks the 27-year-old has some rashness and recklessness to his game.
Whilst Mings is the England international for Villa at the back, many supporters feel that Ezri Konsa has been their best performing defender since football restarted back in June and he should also be getting a knock on his door.
Nonetheless, Cascarino issued some potentially harsh words about Mings despite Villa’s comfortable win from the weekend.
“Little bit of negative is Tyrone Mings,” said Cascarino. “A little bit rash. A little bit reckless.
“I think he has got that a little bit in his game. But he needs to stop doing that.
“Konsa is looking like he has grown. And the goalkeeper terrific Everything is easy for him. Dean Smith has created a great work ethic.”

Villa’s defence has well and truly transformed from their error-prone ways of last season and it all started towards the back end of the last campaign.
That break after the first lockdown seemingly helped Villa because it made them tougher to play against as a team, individuals improved ten-fold across the backline and errors were cut out.
Matt Targett has perhaps been the most improved player in that back four, whilst Konsa and Douglas Luiz can battle it out to decide who has been the best player from a defensive standpoint because it’s either two.
