A little bit difficult… Tottenham summer signing Juan Foyth admits move hasn’t been easy

Tottenham’s Juan Foyth has discussed his move to England.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth has told the club’s official matchday programme – as quoted by Football.London – that his move to England has been ‘a little bit difficult’.

Spurs swooped to land one centre back over the summer in Davinson Sanchez, and then grabbed another South American stopper by signing Foyth.

Foyth, 19, came up through the ranks with Estudiantes La Plata in his native Argentina, and made just nine first-team appearances before catching the eye.

The Argentina Under-20 international completed his protracted move to Spurs in August, signing a five-year deal to work under compatriot Pochettino.

Foyth’s inexperience means that he has been gradually eased into English football, and his start against AFC Wimbledon on Sunday was just his third appearance in all competitions this season.

Pochettino will be hoping to develop Foyth behind the likes of Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld and the aforementioned Sanchez, and Foyth has now discussed his move to England.

Speaking to the club’s official matchday programme – as quoted by Football.London – Foyth admitted that moving to England has been ‘a little bit difficult’, but his father is living with him to make things easier, and he still feels he is living the dream right now.

Foyth added that it is ‘so important’ for him to work alongside fellow defenders Vertonghen, Alderweireld and Sanchez, suggesting that they are helping him become a better player.

“Of course maybe it has been a little bit difficult moving to England, but I’m playing football and that is my dream,” said Foyth. “My dad is living here with me which makes it easier, my family come to visit in the holidays. My team-mates and the coaching staff are really good so I’m happy here in London.”

“To be able to train with the likes of Jan, Toby, Davinson and the other great defenders we have here is so important for me. They are top players and really great people as well. They are always happy to give me advice. I train with them, watch their movement and the way they play the game and learn from them all the time. It’s the best education you can have,” he added.
