There is no truth to reports linking Serie A newcomers Salernitana with a move for Everton’s £22 million Premier League midfielder Allan, president Danilo Iervolino tells Radio Kiss Kiss.

Promoted for the first time in nearly a quarter of the century last season, Salernitana clearly aren’t here to make up the numbers.

I Granata have already brought in the much-admired Erik Botheim – the driving force behind Bodo/Glimt’s infamous six-goal obliteration of Jose Mourinho’s Roma – while being linked with the likes of Neal Maupay, Boulaye Dia, Dries Mertens and Yusuf Yazici.

One player who will not be arriving, however, is former Napoli enforcer Allan.

The 31-year-old Brazil international is available for transfer after two largely underwhelming seaosns at Goodison Park.

But, according to Iervolino, reports linking Allan with Salernitana are further wide of the mark than a Moise Kean snapshot.

“The rumour that we would like Allan is a lie,” the president says.

“I receive about 40 phone calls a day for the transfer market negotiations of Salernitana. We must make prudent and careful choices, taking players suitable for the gameplan of our coach (Davide) Nicola”.

According to The Sun, Everton hope to get Allan’s £70,000-a-pay-packet wages off their eye-watering wage bill. Offers are not exactly flooding in, however, with the £22 million midfielder suggesting a couple of months ago that he expects to stay for at least another season at Goodison Park.

Allan could, at least, find himself being utilised in a more suitable box-to-box role next term. Everton are in talks to bring former fans’ favourite Idrissa Gana Gueye back to Merseyside from Paris Saint-Germain. According to Le Parisien, Gueye’s could arrive for around £8 million.

Real Betis enforcer Guido Rodriguez is another name on Everton’s radar. The all-action Argentine averaged more tackles than any other player in La Liga across 2021/22 (WhoScored).
