Ben Foster has claimed that Leeds United’s summer signing Dan James is ‘up there’ with his Watford teammate Ismaila Sarr in terms of speed, as he told his own YouTube channel.
The English goalkeeper labelled James ‘a joke’ in terms of quality and thinks he is a ‘real good’ signing for Leeds.
The 23-year-old moved from Manchester United to Leeds on transfer deadline day – at the second time of asking.
When the Whites were in the Championship, they missed out on James’ signature right at the death when he was still in Swansea colours, but now, Marcelo Bielsa finally has his man.
Whilst Foster isn’t donning Watford’s number one goalkeeping gloves yet, he might just have to face the Welshman’s attacking threat this season, as he shared his thoughts on Leeds’ transfer business.
“Dan James, I like that signing,” said Foster. “£25 million from Man United.
“The guy is maybe one of the fastest players you will see. He is up there with Ismaila Sarr in terms of speed.
“The guy is a joke, honestly. He is just absolutely rapid. If you can get a little bit more end product into his game then he could be a real good signing for Leeds.
“But I like it. I like the Leeds team, anyway. I think if you add a few more ingredients, like Dan James then it’s shaping up to be a good season.”

There’s no doubt that James suits Leeds down to the bone and he will only add to the array of attacking talent Bielsa is already able to coach at Thorp Arch.
James did improve during his time at Old Trafford, but there’s no doubt there is more legroom for him to surge even further in his career.
The Wales international only needs to look towards the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling, to name a few, as examples that he can reach even bigger heights.
And if he can get things right then not many teams will want to face James on one side and Raphinha on the other.
