Aston Villa fans are even baffled that Ben White didn’t earn an England call on Thursday.
Gareth Southgate named his England squad yesterday and, as always, those players who weren’t selected were the main talking points.
One of them being Arsenal’s big-money centre-back, who has only lost one game since he joined the club.
Added with that, he has helped the Gunners secure five clean sheets in all competitions, which is some going for a team that was on the slide and on the floor, not so long ago.
After three Premier League matches, Mikel Arteta’s side were sitting bottom of the table, with zero points and zero goals to their name.
But, as soon as White was able to get his feet warm under the table, the £120k-a-week star (Spotrac) hasn’t looked back and taken his centre-back spot by the scruff of the neck.
Despite producing strong performances, the powers that be at England still felt that he wasn’t worthy of earning another international call.
One name that was picked ahead of the ball-playing centre-half was Villa’s, Tyrone Mings.
Dean Smith dropped the Villa captain for their last outing, which they lost 4-1 to West Ham – their fourth defeat on the bounce.
Given the circumstances surrounding Mings, compared to White, even Villa supporters were sympathetic towards the Arsenal man not being selected.
