Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson suggested on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, November 19, 2016) that Harry Kane should leave Tottenham Hotspur if he does not get a new contract.

According to The Mirror, talks over a new contract between Tottenham and Kane have been postponed until the end of the season.

The England international striker reportedly wants in excess of £100,000-a-week as salary.

According to The Sun, Kane earns £60,000 a week at the moment, while summer signing Moussa Sissoko gets £95,000 per week as salary.

Former Arsenal attacker Merson has suggested that the 23-year-old striker should leave Spurs if he does not get a new and improved deal.

“It’s a joke,” said Merson on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News HQ on Saturday afternoon (broadcast from 12pm, November 19, 2016) regarding Kane’s reported situation.

“How could Sissoko go there and be on 90 bags a week and he is getting 60? Honestly, it does my head in. The young kid has come through the ranks at Tottenham and that’s what happens. That’s what happens.

“It’s like, you cost nothing, so you will get that and that. He should leave, he should leave, leave, seriously leave, or say, ‘Give me 120 grand a week because I am better than him, because he is not that good’.”

Kane is one of the best strikers in the Premier League, and has established himself as a key player in the team over the past two seasons.

The England international is a major asset for Spurs, who should do their best to hold onto the 23-year-old.

According to The Mirror, Manchester United have been alerted by Kane’s contract stand-off at Tottenham.

United are reportedly looking to sign a big-name striker and are monitoring the development of the 23-year-old’s situation at Spurs closely.
