Speaking on the Handbrake Off Podcast, The Athletic’s James McNicholas has been speaking about Patrick Vieira potentially managing Arsenal one day.
Vieira has just masterminded a 3-0 win against Arsenal’s biggest rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and as you can imagine, Gunners supporters have been thinking about the possibility of the legend coming to the Emirates.
McNicholas believes that Vieira would love to be Arsenal manager, claiming that he wouldn’t hesitate to put his name forward due to the affection he has for the club.
What’s been said?
McNicholas was asked about Vieira potentially managing the Gunners.
“Well that’s a good point. It could be quite a painful thing. He’s got such a legacy at Arsenal that he would be putting on the line. I have to say that I don’t think he would hesitate to do that. I think it’s a job he would absolutely love. It’s a job he has been a candidate for previously and he’d not made it to the final round, but he wouldn’t hesitate to do it again because of the affection he has for the club,” McNicholas said.

One day
We could certainly see this happening one day.
Of all of the Invincibles, Vieira has gone on to have the best managerial career thus far, and with top clubs often opting to appoint former players, this is one that would make the world of sense.
Mikel Arteta is the current manager, and Vieira has only just started at Palace, so it may not be for some time, but in a few years, don’t be surprised if you see Vieira in the dugout at the Emirates.
