Carlton Palmer has cast a critical eye on Scott McTominay and how he isn’t good enough to play on a regular basis for Manchester United.

In the summer, there was talk of the 27-year-old heading for the Old Trafford exit door, with David Moyes’ West Ham United one of the admirers.

Amid Carlton Palmer’s question marks over Scott McTominay, he feels a move to the London Stadium is a very good option for him, as he told Stadium Astro.

The Scotland international is Manchester United’s top-scorer this season with seven goals, including a brilliant late winner against Aston Villa on Sunday.

After losing Declan Rice in the summer, West Ham didn’t waste any time as they signed James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez.

Then, in January, they secured the talents of the experienced Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City on a loan deal until the end of the season.

It’s safe to say that life hasn’t started as well as the Englishman would have liked because he has already made two errors and now finds himself on the bench.

You would assume Kalvin Phillips will return to the Etihad in the summer, with Carlton Palmer making the following claim about Scott McTominay.

Scott McTominay at West Ham United

“West Ham were in for him,” said Palmer about where McTominay should go. “That would have been a good club for him to go to. They are in the top six.”

West Ham United’s midfield

On Sunday, the Hammers were ripped apart by Arsenal in one of the club’s worst-ever games and performances under Moyes.

The midfield was taken apart by an Arsenal side pushing for the Premier League title.

If McTominay was in East London, then there is no doubt that he would start on a regular basis and earn those minutes he craves.

But given the impact he is now having at Manchester United, albeit off the bench, then it would take a lot for him to want to leave now or for the club to want to sell him.
