Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has told Sky Sports that Demarai Gray is available for transfer in January, amid speculation that Tottenham Hotspur want him.

Well-known journalist Duncan Castles claimed on the Transfer Window Podcast last month that Leicester believe that Gray will sign for Tottenham.

Castles added that “there is an interest” from the North London club in the 24-year-old winger, as covered by HITC Sport here.

Rodgers told Sky Sports about Gray: “It’s pretty clear with Demarai that he’s looking to move on. His attitude to training has been first class, he has been very professional.

“He is at the stage of his career where he has been here a long time and hasn’t maybe nailed down a place. A fresh start may be the course for him.

“I will always respect him and until his last day I will never discard him but it’s looking more than likely he will probably be somewhere else next season.”

Leicester City struggles

Gray has been on the books of Leicester since 2016 when he joined from Birmingham City and will become a free agent at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old winger has failed to make a huge impact at the King Power Stadium and is a fringe player.

The former England Under-21 international has made just one League Cup appearance so far this season, while during the 2019-20 campaign, he made three starts and 18 substitute appearances in the Premier League, according to WhoScored.

Tottenham Hotspur transfer in January?

Tottenham have a very good and strong attacking unit, and it is hard to see Gray get much playing time at the North London club.

Erik Lamela, Lucas Moura, Gareth Bale and Steven Bergwijn are all very good wingers, and Gray would struggle to play ahead of them.
