Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa have got the better of Frank Lampard’s Everton 2-1 at Villa Park in the Premier League this afternoon.
Danny Ings put the Villans in the lead in the 31st minute, and then in the 85th minute Emiliano Buendía doubled the advantage for the home team.
Ollie Watkins provided the assists for the two goals.
At that stage, it did look like Villa would win the match with ease, but then Lucas Digne scored an own goal on 87 minutes.
Everton piled on the press, but Villa held on for the three points.
Digne is a former Everton player.
The 29-year-old France international left-back was on the books of Everton from the summer of 2018 until January 2022 when he moved to Villa.

Digne has made 131 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
The left-back has scored four goals and created 35 big chances in those matches.
