Aberdeen have not received a single ‘concrete offer’ for Sam Cosgrove despite reports linking Newcastle United, Stoke City and Sheffield Wednesday with the striker, as reported by Not The Old Firm.

While Steve Bruce’s Magpies put in a much-improved performance during Tuesday night’s clash with Leeds, there was still a nagging feeling that a seventh defeat in nine games could have been avoided if the home side had a ruthless streak in their locker.

Newcastle have scored just five times during a horror run, with £20 million summer signing Callum Wilson finding goals hard to come by. Although he has not been helped by a crushing lack of creativity in a toothless side.

So Cosgrove, a 6ft 2ins target man who relies on service from out wide, would not find it easy if he swaps Aberdeen for St James’ Park during the final few days of the transfer window.

The Sun reports that Newcastle and Stoke are keen on the former Everton youngster.

But, according to Dons boss McInnes, a move away from Pittodrie is far from imminent.

“There have been a few conversations had with a few clubs about Sam Cosgrove but there has been no concrete offer for him or any of our players,” said the former West Brom captain.

The Evening Express reported in midweek that Sheffield Wednesday had been priced out of a deal for the Yorkshire-born Cosgrove, who turned down a move to Guingamp after Aberdeen accepted a £2.7 million bid in July (Sun).
