Joleon Lescott has given his verdict on who between Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are better equipped to beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to the Premier League title this season.
The pundit thinks that Arsenal are the third favourites in the Premier League title race behind Manchester City and Liverpool.
Joleon Lescott has noted that Liverpool and his former club City are used to competing and winning major trophies, including the Premier League, an experience that Arsenal do not have.
Liverpool are a point ahead of defending champions City, who are second. Arsenal are five points behind the Reds in third. The Gunners have a game in hand, which is against Sheffield United on Monday evening.
Joleon Lescott on Arsenal and Liverpool
Lescott said on PremierLeagueProductions: “I think it’s more important for Arsenal [experience] that will be a factor for them. Liverpool have been there and thereabouts, they know what it takes to win.
“Obviously new members of the squad haven’t won the league but the Klopp factor, last season, Anfield is obviously an intimidating place regardless.

“So, the experience for Arsenal will be a factor, but for Liverpool and City, they’re used to winning and we see them go on runs of 10-12 games of wins.
“I just think that’s the standard now and I put Arsenal third because I haven’t seen them produce a run of ten wins in a row which is the new normal.”
My View: Do not underestimate Arsenal
Yes, Manchester City and Liverpool have more experience than Arsenal, but it would not be wise to underestimate the Gunners.
It was Arsenal who challenged City for the Premier League title last season. Liverpool did not even finish in the top four.
Just like City and Liverpool, Arsenal have a very good, strong and competent squad. It is the beginning of March, and the North London club are still going strong.
Arsenal are not going away anytime soon. The North London club also have a mean defence. The Gunners have conceded only 23 goals in 26 Premier League games this season.
I do not expect Arsenal to win the title. I am backing City for the championship. But, at the same time, I think that the Gunners will make the Citizens work extremely hard for it.
