Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Ivan Perisic is a ‘dream player for every coach’, former Croatia and Bayern Munich hero Ivica Olic tells Sport BILD.
Manchester United fans up and down the land would have been suffering from a nasty case of déjà vu when the reports emerged, once again, that Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Ivan Perisic.
The Inter Milan-owned winger was relentlessly linked with a move to Old Trafford in the summer of 2017, though Mourinho would have to make do with Jesse Lingard and co instead.
Three years on, however, a saga so tired that it makes Pirates of the Caribbean feel fresh and young is back again.
Fussball Transfers report that Mourinho’s Tottenham will jump in, if Bayern Munich decide against offering Perisic a permanent contract at the end of his loan spell at the Allianz Arena.
The 2018 World Cup finalist may be a little past his brilliant best but that does not mean the 31-year-old does not still have a lot left in the tank.
“He can still play at the highest level for a few years,” says his former Croatia and Wolfsburg team-mate Olic. “Ivan has a very well-trained body and has rarely been injured in his career.

“Ivan’s big plus in addition to his experience is that he can play in many positions in attack: the left, right, and also in the centre. Since he shoots equally well with both feet, he is unpredictable for the opponents.
“And he also helps on the defensive. I played with him at VfL Wolfsburg and in the national team and can say: Ivan is a dream player for every coach. I am an absolute fan of Ivan.”
Perisic has not exactly been one of the first names in Bayern Munich’s team-sheet but his stats still make for impressive reading.
An old-school winger with an eye for goal, Perisic has hit the net six times while producing a further eight assists for a Bayern team who are now just one win away from sealing the Bundesliga title.
And, with Inter demanding a bargain £14 million, Mourinho might never get a better chance to sign a player he has wanted for years.
