Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrice Muamba has been discussing his Team of the Season so far and he’s found a place for William Saliba.
The French centre-back has been an absolute revelation at Arsenal since returning from his loan at Marseille.
The 21-year-old has arguably been the very best defender in the division, and according to Muamba, he’s a completely different player to the young man who went out on loan last year.

“In no particular order, I’m going to go with Saliba. Saliba has improved Arsenal hugely. He’s come in, he’s been out on loan and now he’s come back as a different player,” Muamba said.
“More mature, he’s a Rolls Royce of a defender, he’s strong, he’s a good passer and difficult to beat one vs one. He’s made a huge difference to this Arsenal team because of the confidence the Arsenal boys give him is there for all to see, you can’t deny that.”

When you watch Saliba on the pitch it truly is hard to believe that he’s only 21 years old.
The Frenchman looks like a veteran with the way he reads the game, and that’s a skill he, quite simply, didn’t have when he first arrived at the club.
At the time, it looked like Mikel Arteta may have been mismanaging this talented young defender, but now, the loan spells are paying off and Arsenal are reaping the rewards.
Saliba should act as an example to every club of how to handle a young player going forward.
The Frenchman arrived at Arsenal as an unpolished gem, and now, he’s an absolute diamond.
