Joao scored Blackburn Rovers’ equaliser against Fulham, to keep parent club Sheffield Wednesday inside the top six.
Lucas Joao of Blackburn Rovers celebrates
“Decent”, “changed the game”, “caused us so many problems” – that’s how some Fulham fans reacted to Lucas Joao’s cameo for Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday.
Having scored twice as a substitute in Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Norwich City, Joao again stepped off the bench to secure a point for his side in the 94th minute at Craven Cottage.
The Portuguese striker hadn’t scored a Championship goal for 13 months prior to last weekend, and had bagged only once since November 2015, when he found the net against Blackburn for parent club Sheffield Wednesday.
Wednesday, who loaned Joao to Blackburn in January, will be delighted by Joao’s recent exploits, which have kept the Owls in a top-six place by the skin of their teeth.
And some of their fans have a theory as to why the 23-year-old is suddenly thriving at Ewood Park, while the likes of Jordan Rhodes and Sam Winnall have found life tough in Wednesday colours.
Do you agree? Or could it be that Joao has simply rediscovered the confidence which saw him score seven goals in his first three months at Hillsborough?
Either way, with Preston, Brighton and Reading up next for Blackburn, Wednesday fans will be hoping that Agent Joao can complete his ongoing mission.
