Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has told the Liverpool Echo that it’s a ‘definite boost’ for him to play alongside striker Romelu Lukaku.

The Toffees continued their superb start to the new season under Ronald Koeman by hammering Sunderland 3-0 on Monday evening to make it three wins in four Premier League games.

Romelu Lukaku’s second-half hat-trick handed Everton all three points at the Stadium of Light, and the win now means that Everton have now dropped just two points so far this term.

Lukaku’s second-half display certainly caught the eye, but so did recently-signed winger Yannick Bolasie, who joined from Crystal Palace last month.

Bolasie thrived after being switched from the right to the left winger, and having terrorised Javier Manquillo, he set up Lukaku for his second goal with a superb cross into the back post.

The DR Congo international has enjoyed a strong start to life at Goodison Park, and he’s now discussed teaming up with Lukaku with the Toffees.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Bolasie admitted that he feels it’s a ‘definite boost’ to be playing alongside Lukaku, and suggests their partnership is ‘perfect’ as he knows the service that Lukaku wants.

Bolasie added that Lukaku offers a focal point, and despite many telling him that the Belgian was ‘rusty’, he thinks Lukaku has been confident throughout their time together.

“It’s a definite boost (for me as a winger),” said Bolasie. “I know Rom, I’ve seen him play and I know what he wants as a striker so, for me, that’s perfect and perfect for me as a winger. He has come out with a hat-trick today, the team have won and everyone is buzzing.”

“He offers a focal point. You know he’s always going to entertain the corridor balls and if you get the balls in early then he will score. He’s been confident. When I came on at West Brom I set up two chances and expected him to score. But people were telling me he was rusty but when he gets going, he gets going. I saw that at Sunderland,” he added.
