Leeds United and Derby County face off in early August.

The benefits of the decision to bring forward the transfer window are now becoming clear.
Leeds United and Derby County are set to be two early beneficiaries, thanks to the combination of the fixture release and an ongoing transfer saga.

The Whites are targeting Derby forward Matej Vydra, with the Yorkshire Evening Post reporting earlier in June that Leeds are keen, with rumours ongoing ever since.

The Championship fixture list has Derby hosting Leeds in the second round of fixtures of the season, on August 11.
This falls two days after the transfer window closes.
Fortunately for Derby, Leeds, and Vydra himself, there will be total clarity on his future by time the game begins.

What neither side would have wanted, and what could have happened in previous seasons, is that Derby may have deliberately delayed any sale until after the fixture.
The speculation, should the saga drag on, would have overshadowed the fixture, and the preparations of both teams.
This way, when the match is held, Vydra will know where his future lies, whether it be with Leeds, Derby, or somewhere else, and a lot of angst will have been avoided.
