Some Liverpool fans on social media have been reacting after Atletico Madrid announced the signing of Rodrigo De Paul.
The Argentine had been linked with a move for Liverpool, but the Spanish champions beat the Merseyside outfit to his signature.
The Reds are in desperate need for a new midfielder after Georginio Wijnaldum left the club to join PSG, and it seems as though the fanbase thought De Paul would have been the perfect fit.
To be fair, we can see where they’re coming from, the midfielder has been a star for Udinese for a number of years at this point, and his exploits at the Copa America this summer showed that he do it on the biggest of stages.
The Reds have been linked to De Paul’s new Atletico teammate Saul Niguez in recent days, but there are some fans who would rather have signed the Argentine than the Spaniard.
Whether or not Liverpool sign a midfielder remains to be seen, but in the eyes of some fans, they’ve missed a great opportunity with De Paul.
