Trevor Sinclair has told talkSPORT that the only condition likely to guarantee both Harry Kane and Antonio Conte stay this summer is Tottenham Hotspur guaranteeing transfers.

Spurs have suffered a drop off in form over their recent Premier League games to slip down to eighth-place. They retain three fixtures in hand over Manchester United in the last of the Champions League places. But the north Londoners trail the Red Devils by seven-points.

Tottenham were only a point from the top-four on January 19 with three games in hand on West Ham following their most recent win against Leicester City. But three defeats in three – the first such run for Conte since his Atalanta tenure in November 2009 – has been costly.

Now, The Sun also report Kane could again consider his future at Tottenham come the next transfer window. The striker is happier at the club than he was last year following Conte’s arrival. But he expects Chairman Daniel Levy to guarantee high-calibre summer signings.

The England international will decide his future at the end of the season as he feels Conte can end Spurs’ trophy drought. But Kane wants to see Levy back the Italian in the market.

Sinclair tells Tottenham ‘there’s a chance’ Kane and Conte go without transfers

Sinclair will not be surprised if Kane and Conte look to leave Tottenham without Levy giving guarantees of big transfers. He also believes the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium natives face a huge bill to get back in the mix for the top titles Mauricio Pochettino came close to lifting.

“They want to know that there’s going to be assurances [of signings],” Sinclair said. “I think they need to invest £150m-plus in the summer if they want to get in the top-four and start fighting for trophies.

“If Kane knows that kind of money is being spent, he’ll be happy to stay at the football club. If it’s not, I think both him and Conte, there’s a chance they’ll both leave in the summer.”

Pochettino led Tottenham to the Champions League final in 2018/19 and challenged for the Premier League title in 2016/17. Kane led the line both times, but Spurs now risk missing out on a top-four finish for the third successive term without Conte turning results around.

Conte has brought life back into Kane’s campaign after a poor start as Nuno Espirito Santo stood at the Tottenham helm. The England captain – who Gareth Southgate calls ‘brilliant’ – has four goals in 12 league outings under Conte. He scored just one in nine under Nuno.
