Kane touched the ball only 22 times and looked exhausted, unsurprising considering his World Cup exploits.
The striker needs a break, and Tottenham have an opportunity to give him one if they make a bold call.
Spurs should give Kane 11 days off between the Inter Milan fixture on Tuesday, and the Premier League match with Huddersfield at the end of the month, which is followed by a match against Barcelona.
Kane would miss two Tottenham games in this 11 day period – one of which he is unlikely to be selected for anyway.
These matches are next Saturday’s home fixture against Brighton, and the EFL Cup game away to Watford.
Kane is not likely to play against Watford in any case and will sit that one out.
If Spurs are bold, they can give him an extended break, send him on holiday, and try to beat Brighton at home without the striker.
Kane is not in the best form and Spurs should give him a breather.
It is a little bit of a gamble to effectively drop him, but if Tottenham get a better Harry Kane back at the end of the month and can win without him, it has a chance to pay off.
