Andy Cole has raved about Gabriel Martinelli on talkSPORT by claiming that he has got ‘a bit of magic’ about his game.

The former Manchester United striker also believes Martinelli ‘has the ability’ to play through the middle rather than out wide where he is ‘scoring goals’ and ‘creating’.

At last, Arsenal fans have some hope to cling onto, and whilst it comes in the form of a teenager, it’s something to cheer about during these pretty difficult months for the club.

Cole is well aware of what it takes to produce the goods at the highest level and he is a fan of Arsenal’s returning star.

“I like him,” said Cole. “I liked his performance in midweek and I liked his performance [against Chelsea]. When you talk about energy, he gives it everything he has got and that’s what you would expect at a big club like Arsenal.

On whether Martinelli will play through the middle: “He has got the ability to do that. But watching him now, playing from the wide areas, he looks really good.

“He looks comfortable. He’s got loads of energy and wants to get into the box and score goals. He wants to be creating. Getting on the ball and doing a bit of magic and that’s a massive positive for Arsenal.”

Signed for £6 million [Telegraph], Martinelli has been a fantastic under-the-radar capture by the North London club.

In recent times, Arsenal haven’t exactly been known to buy the best or bring those gem signings to the club, but it seems they have found their player in Martinelli.

If he can stay away from the treatment room for the long-term then there’s no doubt why Arsenal shouldn’t climb up the table.
