Arsenal fans have seen the funny side to Mikel Arteta slapping Takehiro Tomiyasu on the face after their 1-0 win against Burnley on Saturday.
With the biggest smile on his face, Arteta walked up the right-back, touched his face like a proud father before giving him a little slap.
Arsenal fans loved how Arteta showed affection towards the player, who has started life in a very positive fashion since his summer move to the Premier League.
For years and years now, Arsenal have been looking for that right-back, but time and time again, players have failed to show true quality in that position.
And with Tomiyasu’s arrival, his athleticism, defensive awareness and workrate, is proving to be a bit of a winner with the fans.
Of course, it’s early days yet and there is still a long, long way to go.
But the signs are looking good for the club, who were sitting bottom of the Premier League table before the last international break.
And as much as Arteta appreciates Tomiyasu, it seems as though the fans like him even more.
Just like every player that will take to the field this Sunday, they can write their names into legendary status if they produce the goods against Spurs.
The North London rivals will lock horns at the Emirates Stadium, with Spurs coming off the back of a 3-0 defeat to Chelsea and the Gunners with back-to-back wins to their name.
If the home side can produce the three points then the players’ confidence should go through the roof and Arteta will see the pressure ease on his shoulders.
Here is a selection of Arsenal fans reacting to Tomiyasu and Arteta after the full-time whistle on Saturday:
