Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has been discussing Newcastle United’s interest in Bamba Dieng.

The Magpies have been linked with Dieng for a little while now, and according to Bailey, the attacker is on the market for a mere £15m due to the fact he’s fallen out with Igor Tudor.

The new Marseille boss hasn’t made himself too popular since arriving at the Ligue 1 club, and now, Dieng could be on his way to the Premier League for a low price.

In fact, Bailey has described this potential deal as one of the bargains of the summer.

What’s been said?

Bailey shared what he knows about Dieng and Newcastle.

“Newcastle, they still have some work to do. Eddie Howe wants more quality. They are looking at targets they’ve looked at before, Bamba Dieng from Marseille, he’s a bit like Sadio Mane, he can play across the front three, seven goals last year, very impressive. He’s available because he’s had a falling out with Igor Tudor the new coach who has fallen out with a few players,” Bailey said.

“Marseille are now going for Alexis Sanchez and Dieng is available for £15m, and he could be one of the bargains of the summer.”

On-brand signing

Newcastle United may be the richest club in the world, but they’re yet to truly splash the cash in the market.

Instead, the Magpies have been very canny in the transfer window, shopping around for some bargains, especially from France.

At £15m, Dieng would be a bargain, and after signing the likes of Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes from France, we know that Newcastle do have their eyes on the French market.

This could be a fantastic signing if the Tyneside outfit manage to pull it off.
