Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing Patrick Bamford after his performance against Arsenal.
Bamford wasn’t at his best against Arsenal – missing a crucial penalty, but he certainly made an impact when he came on against the Gunners, causing all sorts of problems and riling up the opposition defence.
According to Seaman, Bamford’s demeanour reminds him a little bit of Dennis Bergkamp due to the fact he portrays himself as a nice guy when he in fact has a real edge about him on the pitch.

Seaman spoke about the Leeds striker.
“Yeah, as soon as Bamford came on they looked a lot different. They missed him a lot, look at the influence he had when he came on. He’s one of those guys who looks like a nice, quiet guy, but he’s a bit like Dennis Bergkamp, everyone thought he was a Mr Nice Guy and whatever, but on the pitch they can look after themselves and stick their elbow in and make the defenders cry,” Seaman said.
No pushover
Patrick Bamford can often be perceived in the wrong way both on and off the pitch.
Yes, he’s got a bit of a posh accent and could have gone to Harvard University, but he’s no pushover on the pitch.
He’s a former Marcelo Bielsa striker, he plays with more intensity than most, and as with any Premier League footballer, he’s ultra-competitive.
He may not have the physique of someone like Adama Traore, but he’s still a 6ft2 striker who can handle himself physically against any defender in the division.
Centre-halves may think they’re going to have an easy ride against Bamford, but that couldn’t be any further from the truth.
