Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford has told the Leeds United podcast that he was frustrated with Marcelo Bielsa’s decision to take him off on Saturday.
Bamford may have been eyeing a game against the Premier League’s bottom side as one to increase his tally.
However, the Leeds front man was unable to get on the scoresheet and he was actually withdrawn just after the hour mark.
Marcelo Bielsa may have wanted to protect Bamford, who was nursing an injury over the international break.
But the Leeds striker admits that he really didn’t want to come off.
“Good to be fair. I’m a little bit frustrated that after the Sheffield United game no-one wants to get taken off, I was a bit frustrated with that,” he said.
“Plus being a striker I didn’t score so now I’m extra eager to get into the next one and the fact it’s Manchester City makes it a bit bigger.
“Scoring against them is not an easy thing to do but it’s something I want to do so I’m eager to get going.”
Leeds didn’t score again after Bamford was withdrawn against them Blades, as they picked up a 2-1 win.
That surely means that the 27-year-old will keep his place at the weekend, when Leeds take on Manchester City.
Leeds’ chances of winning do look slim, given Pep Guardiola’s side’s dominance this term.
But with City having a tough midweek game in the Champions League, Leeds may hope that they have the energy to cause the Premier League leaders some problems at the weekend.
