Speaking on the BBC Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Gary Lineker has been discussing Jurgen Klopp and his personality.

Klopp has been absolutely brilliant for English football. He’s had Liverpool playing some of the best football we’ve ever seen, and on top of that, he’s been a brilliant character.

However, while Lineker says that Klopp seems like a great bloke, he also states that the German can be a bit of a sore loser.

What’s been said?

Lineker spoke about Klopp.

“He just seems like a really, really great bloke. He can be a bad loser, but who in sport can be successful by being a good loser? But he can be a bit chippy on that front, when he’s lost a game, but understandably so,” Lineker said.

How to be successful

As much as Klopp’s frostiness after a loss isn’t good to see, you have to have that hate for losing in order to be successful.

Imagine a manager coming out all smiles after a defeat. What sort of message would that send to his players? It would make losing seem acceptable, and Klopp doesn’t want to build a team like that at Liverpool.

The Anfield outfit are winning machines, they lost just four league games between 2018/19 and 2019/20 and even still Klopp was fuming after every loss.

Yes, he can be a bad loser, but that’s better than being a manager who accepts mediocrity.
