Julian Laurens has told talkSPORT that the relationship between Mauricio Pochettino and Leonardo is ‘a bit better’ amid Tottenham rumours.

The French journalist shared that he can see why Daniel Levy tried to lure Pochettino back to Tottenham, but insists the Argentine’s relationship with PSG’s director is now ‘improving’.

This comes after Le10 Sport claimed on Tuesday that if Pochettino wants to leave Spurs then they would let him go.

But, according to Laurens, on Monday night, Pochettino was discussing what PSG were going to do next season, including the players they were looking to sign.

“It’s a bit better now,” said Laurens. “It’s more with Leonardo’s assistant that I think Poch had a few issues.

“But with Leonardo, they have been talking a lot to prepare for next season, the transfer window and all of that.

“And again, on Monday night, they were discussing the arrivals of Donnarumma, Wijnaldum and as well as Achraf Hakimi, the Inter Milan right-back.

“They have always been in touch. I can see why Daniel Levy and Spurs tried their luck and tried to bring Poch back to London. I think it always going to be a long shot, anyway. But certainly, things with Poch and Leonardo are better and improving.”

It was never going to happen, in truth, and it would have been quite the shock if Pochettino did indeed don Tottenham colours again.

Things have worsened since he left, and given that he wants to win trophies, then why would he return to a club where he failed to get over that trophy line and current signs suggest that they are further away from lifting silverware than before?

At PSG, he is working with some of the best players in the world, and unless there are serious issues in the boardroom, then there’s no reason why he shouldn’t continue on in Paris.

As for Tottenham and Levy, it’s been over 50 days since Jose Mourinho was given the chop, yet they don’t seem any nearer to bringing a fresh face through their North London doors, with the club seemingly looking to go back to ‘square one’ in their manager hunt.
