Antonio Conte hit out at a Sky reporter by stating that he is ‘annoyed’ and ‘bored’ at being asked about the gap in quality between Tottenham and Chelsea.

After Chelsea knocked Tottenham out of the EFL Cup on Wednesday night, Sky reporter, Guy Havord, asked ‘how long’ it will take to close that gap and he responded by saying that he has to keep ‘repeating’ himself, as he told Sky Sports.

To put it simply, Spurs were outclassed and outplayed over the two legs and deserved to get knocked out by their London rivals.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs may have constantly finished in the top-six, but it’s proving to be a difficult task now.

Conte is a manager of high, high quality and he has proven before that he can turn around many troubling ships.

But, the big difference with the Spurs project is that they are a club that haven’t won the league title for decades and decades or a trophy in years.

So, added with trying to change the quality, it’s also a battle of trying to change the mindset in north London.

Conte has made it clear that it will take time, but when he was asked about it after last night’s defeat, although he had a calm demeanour about him, he didn’t respond in a pleasant fashion.

Guy Havord asked: “Is that daunting for you and how long will it take to get anywhere near Chelsea?”

Conte responded: “I repeat and I am talking too much because I have to talk with the media.

“And then, to repeat always the same topic, the same situation, and honestly, I am a bit bored, a bit annoyed and that’s it.”

It’s pretty clear that Tottenham need to re-invest in their squad and sell players that are no longer good enough.

For some, they previously showcased the quality but are no longer at the level Tottenham want to get to.

Whilst, for others, big money was put on the table for their talents, but they just haven’t delivered.

Either way, for far too long, Spurs have stagnated and stagnated, and in truth, they aren’t showing any signs of stopping.
