Falkirk’s co-manager Lee Miller wants his side to take inspiration from Rangers’ work-rate and attacking movement after Sunday’s Scottish League Cup win, as he told the club’s YouTube channel.
While Celtic hit rock bottom with a 2-0 home defeat to Ross County that proved to be the final straw for many Hoops fans, things continue to go rather swimmingly for another Glasgow giant.
Rangers made light work of third-tier Falkirk in Stirlingshire, with 38-year-old Jermain Defoe rolling back the years to score a vintage opener.
Calvin Bassey then opened his account for the Gers before a stunning Borna Barisic free-kick, and a 14th of the season for right-back James Tavernier, inched Steven Gerrard’s side one step closer to a first domestic cup triumph since 2011.
While Falkirk made a good impression of themselves on home soil, Miller is keen for his charges to take a leaf out of Rangers’ book as they look to seal promotion back to the Championship.
“If we play like that against teams in our league, they won’t be able to live with us,” the coach explained.

“We’ll take a lot of things from the way Rangers play. They’re not up there (at the top of the Premeirship) by fluke. You can see they work on things constantly; the triggers, – if one striker comes short, the other midfielders are going (beyond him).
“They’ve got a lot of attacking options.”
Rangers dominated 62 per cent of the ball in Falkirk, with the high-pressing approach that has served them so well this season stifling the hosts throughout.
“That’s a big strength of Rangers. As soon as they give the ball away, there’s two or there people around about (the opposition player),” Miller added.
“The reaction from Rangers, the way they press the ball, I think we can take a lot from that.”
With Celtic out of the way, Rangers are now the clear favourites to win a competition they lost in the final last term.
