Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has suggested that Conor Gallagher could stay at the club beyond the end of the season.
Speaking on the club’s official website after Chelsea’s win against Bournemouth in the Premier League this past weekend, Lampard named Gallagher among the young players who are the future of the Blues.
Chelsea got the better of Bournemouth 3-1 away from home this past Saturday.
Gallagher, 23, scored the opening goal for the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners after nine minutes.
The England international midfielder has been linked with moves away from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
The Athletic reported last week that Liverpool want to sign Mason Mount and his Chelsea teammate Gallagher in the summer transfer window.
The report added that the Blues are ready to sell Gallagher, and that club co-owner Todd Boehly is “looking to cash in on” the youngster.
Frank Lampard hint on Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher
Lampard said after the match on Saturday: “It’s important and today you saw individual performances in Badiashile, Gallagher, Madueke and other players in the team that are big steps forward because they are individuals who will be a big part of Chelsea going forward. That’s a good sign.”

Summer sale could happen
In our view, Chelsea could sell Conor Gallagher in the summer transfer window even though Frank Lampard rates him highly.
After all, Lampard will not be in charge of the Blues for much longer.
Chelsea have too many players on their books and the London club could be willing to cash in on a few of them.
Gallagher is not a regular in the Chelsea first team, and the Blues could see him as someone they could get a good transfer fee for.
After all, Gallagher is home-grown, knows the Premier League inside out, and did well during his loan spell at Crystal Palace.
