Peterborough United director of football has seemingly confirmed that Celtic target Ivan Toney will be leaving this summer, in the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.
The Daily Record claim that Celtic are eyeing up a move for Toney and, as a result, the EFL’s judgement yesterday may be good news for Neil Lennon’s side.
Posh are set to miss out on claiming a play-off spot, as the League One campaign looks to be decided on unweighted points per game.
Peterborough have already said to Toney that he can leave if they’re not playing Championship football next season, and Fry has suggested that his side intend to stick to that promise.
“Obviously Ivan Toney will be a big loss to the team, but we have promised him he can leave if we didn’t go up and what we get for him will see us through next season,” Fry said.
Celtic could now be lining up an offer for Toney, although he will not come cheaply.
It is claimed in the Peterborough Telegraph that Celtic would have to pay £10 million to get hold of the powerful forward.
Toney has been nothing short of a revelation for Posh this term, with the striker sitting well clear at the top of the League One top scorers charts.
If Toney was to move to Celtic he could come in as a replacement for Odsonne Edouard, as the Frenchman is being linked to some big Premier League sides.
