Dimitar Berbatov has shared that he is glad Gabriel Jesus joined Arsenal during the summer transfer window because we can now get to see his ‘true quality’.

The former striker added that Jesus is a ‘great player’ and he is someone who is now ‘enjoying’ his football after not playing on a regular basis at Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta worked with the 25-year-old during his coaching days at the Etihad, and when the chance arose to sign him up, Arsenal paid Manchester City £45 million for his talents (Sky Sports).

At the Etihad, the versatile forward was amongst many, many great players, therefore, it was harder for him to earn those regular starts, on top of Pep Guardiola’s ruthless rotation system.

But it’s a different story for the Brazil World Cup hopeful at the Emirates because he is now one of Arsenal’s main men and perhaps the first name on the teamsheet.

Berbatov spoke about Jesus’ move to Arsenal and how he now has a coach that wants to play and start him on a regular basis, which can change the mood somewhat for that player, as he told Premier League Productions (01/10/22 at 11:50 am).

“That’s probably one of the main parts in any football player, who knows that the coach wants him,” said Berbatov. “The best part is that they worked together at Manchester City, so they know each other.

“Now Jesus going there, he said in the interview he was ‘happy at Man City’, but at one point, he didn’t play. If you truly love football, then you aren’t going to be happy when you don’t play.

“When you get the chance to move to a different club. The coach that once you, again a big club, then, of course, you are going to take it.

“You can see how he’s not reborn, but also enjoying football. The goals he scored. How he reads the game inside the box, also he can put players into play. He’s a great player and I love that he changed clubs because now we can truly see the quality that he possesses.”

CAN JESUS BREAK INTO BRAZIL’S WORLD CUP SQUAD?

Despite the bright start for Jesus in north London, added with the fact that his new team, and not Manchester City, are sitting top of the Premier League table, it still hasn’t panned out the way he would have wanted.

For Tite’s latest Brazil squad – the last one before the 2022 World Cup in Qatar – he was left out of the squad altogether, which isn’t a great sign at all.

Unless Jesus goes on a madness, he might just find that he will be left at home when the World Cup comes about and it will disappoint him.

On one hand, he does deserve that shot, but on the other, from Champions League winner Vinicius Jr to Barcelona’s new star Raphinha, it’s one hell of an attack Brazil have got at their disposal and many great players are going to miss out, not just Jesus.
