Are Newcastle United going to win the title?
Joleon Lescott has predicted that Newcastle could fight their way into the Premier League title race very soon – particularly if they beat Leeds United today.
Eddie Howe’s side are third in the table and have only lost one Premier League outing all season.
Simply put, Newcastle have been outstanding and they can move within four points off top-of-the-table Arsenal this afternoon if they win at home to Leeds.
Arsenal would have two games in hand but even still, the Magpies are scaling dizzy heights this season.
And former Manchester City defender Lescott claims that they could genuinely challenge the Gunners and Pep Guardiola’s side by picking up a couple more victories over the coming days.
He told LiveScore: “It’s still a little early to be putting the Magpies in the title picture for me, though I think a couple of wins in the next few days could change that. You would expect them to have too much for the Whites on current form, before a huge clash with Arsenal awaits on Tuesday.”

But write off Leeds at your peril.
Yes, on form, the St James’s Park outfit have the resources and confidence to demolish Jesse Marsch’s side this afternoon.
Then again, the Whites have beaten Chelsea and Liverpool this season – the latter coming at Anfield – and they forced Tottenham into scoring late goals to beat them in North London.
In games where they aren’t expected to do much, Leeds are a danger and that’ll be the message from Howe.
It’s a big claim by Lescott to suggest Newcastle could find themselves in a genuine title race shortly but, honestly, he’s not wrong.
