David Seaman has stated that he doesn’t think Alex Runarsson will play for Arsenal again, as he told his own podcast.
The Highbury legend thinks Runarsson has had a ‘bad time’ during his days in Arsenal colours.
The 26-year-old is currently out on loan at Belgian top-tier side, OH Leuven, and is clearly behind Arsenal new boy, Aaron Ramsdale, and his back-up, Bernd Leno, in the goalkeeping pecking order.
Even though Leno might depart during the January transfer window because he is too good to be a number two, it’s highly likely that Runarsson won’t put on those first-team gloves again.
Those are words echoed by Seaman who was asked by Arsenal fan and comedian, Matt Lucas, on whether he can see the Icelandic international playing again for the club.
“I don’t think so,” said Seaman. “He came in and he had a bad time, didn’t he?!
“Even when he came in, the standard Aaron (Ramsdale) has now set is really good. It’s really high.”

Runarsson was initially purchased by Arsenal to play second fiddle to Leno last season after the departure of Emi Martinez.
But during the six games he played under Mikel Arteta, he produced a number of very error-prone and nervy performances that left the club with no alternative but to dip into the goalkeeping department once more.
Ironically enough, if Runarsson didn’t have such struggles, and instead, produced steady performances when coming in for Leno, then Arteta wouldn’t have brought in Ramsdale during the summer.
And regardless of how the Gunners have gone about it, they now have one of the best keepers in the Premier League on their hands and one of the signings of the summer.
