Mbaye Diagne has played down reports linking him with a move to West Bromwich Albion, telling Bursa Hakimiyet that he is fully focused on life at Galatasaray.

Sam Allardyce quipped over the weekend that the Baggies could make ‘250 enquiries’ over the course of the January transfer window.

While that may be an exaggeration, there is certainly no shortage of players being linked with a mid-season switch to The Hawthorns.

The Express and Star back up claims from the Mail, stating that Diagne is a loan-to-buy target for a club who are in dire need of some added firepower as they look to replicate the ‘Great Escape’ of 2005.

The Senegal international has produced 11 goals in 16 games this season, outscoring the legendary Radamel Falcao in Istanbul.

But, when asked about a potential move to the Premier League, Diagne appeared to distance himself from the speculation.

“I am a Galatasaray player. I am currently working for Galatasaray,” said the £9 million man, who joined the Super Lig powerhouses after scoring 32 times in 36 matches at Kasimpasa.

West Brom also failed with a loan bid for Hoffenheim ace Ishak Belfodil, while Allardyce himself played down reports linking the Baggies with his former West Ham target man Andy Carroll on Monday (talkSPORT, January 18, 11:00am).
