Clint Dempsey was the hero for Seattle Sounders in MLS yesterday.
Since Tottenham Hotspur sold Clint Dempsey back to MLS in a deal worth $9 million in August 2013 the USMNT star has not exactly set North America alight at new club Seattle Sounders.
The 31-year-old has however recently looked back to his best – seemingly revitalised from a loan spell back at Fulham, which itself was uninspiring.
He bagged a goal recently against Toronto FC – but unfortunately his former team-mate Jermain Defoe had already scored two goals for the Canadian outfit.
But he suffered another setback recently when he was given a two game suspension. In the same game v Toronto he decided to slap his opposing marker Mark Bloom in the groin and received the suspension retroactively.
Last night saw Seattle Sounders take on Portland Timbers – and draw a stunning game 4-4.
And in Dempsey’s first game since returning from suspension – he scored a terrific hat-trick.
He bagged two goals in the final five minutes to save the game against their Washington rivals.
