A round-up of stories involving Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, West Bromwich Albion and more.

The Scottish transfer window does not close for another three weeks, but that hasn’t stopped Steven Gerrard’s Rangers from getting in on the action, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reports that Brandon Barker – who previously played for Rangers’ league rivals, Hibs, on loan – will move to Ibrox on a free transfer from Man City.
But according to the Sun, a fee has been agreed between Rangers and City, whose academy product will undergo a medical ahead of joining in the next few days.
Those of a Rangers persuasion will be wondering now what impact Barker’s alleged move could have on their attempts to re-sign Ryan Kent from Liverpool.
South of the border, Charlie Austin is due at West Bromwich Albion‘s training ground ahead of a season-long loan from Southampton, according to the Daily Mail again.
The newspaper reports West Brom are in advanced talks to sign the striker, who also had interest from Bristol City.
And it adds that Austin could be joined at the Hawthorns by the former Arsenal winger, Callum Willock, who plays for Benfica.

With Grady Diangana (West Ham) and Matheus Pereira (Sporting CP) also linked, it could be a busy day in West Bromwich.
And staying with the Baggies, their young midfielder, Sam Field is heading to Charlton Athletic on loan, according to the Sun.
Elsewhere, Crystal Palace have completed the permanent signing of Everton’s James McCarthy (we wonder what impact that could have on the Toffees’ pursuit of Wilfried Zaha) and Montreal Impact have announced that Bojan Krkic has joined them after the forward’s release by Stoke City.
