In recent weeks, speculation has mounted that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Romelu Lukaku this summer.

The Belgium international has endured a horrendous first season back in the Premeir League following a £98 million transfer to Chelsea [Daily Mail] from Inter Milan last year, scoring 15 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions and starting only a handful of games since January.

At Inter, the powerful hitman won a Serie A title under Spurs manager Antonio Conte, a figure that the 28-year-old said he would die for in 2021 [Goal] to illustrate his affection and trust in the head coach.

And if the North Londoners really do want him, well a report from Spain on Saturday offers some hope.

According to Sport, Chelsea have made contact with agent Pini Zahavi over signing his client, Robert Lewandowski.

There is no room for Lewandowski and Lukaku in West London and if the former is signed by Thomas Tuchel, then the Blues will more than likely offload the latter.

Do Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Romelu Lukaku?

Despite his form, Lukaku won’t be short on suitors but, given his trust in Conte, a transfer to Tottenham might well be on the former Manchester United attacker’s agenda.

After all, La Repubblica reported in April that moving North of the English capital was a genuine possibility.

And if this Lewandowski rumour is accurate then, well, it becomes a lot more plausible.
