Well, Tottenham Hotspur won’t be harassing Chelsea looking for Romelu Lukaku based on his performance against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge last night.
The reported Spurs target was brought back into the Blues’ squad for the first time since February for the 4-2 defeat by their North London rivals in the West of the city.
According to La Republicca, Tottenham is a potential destination for the striker this summer.
But if Antonio Conte was watching his former player, he’ll want a thousand times more than what he showed against Arsenal.
That’s because Thomas Tuchel brought the Belgian hitman – a £98 million signing last summer – off afer a relatively anonymous hour-long stint on the pitch.
According to WhoScored, Lukaku only managed 22 touches in those 60 minutes and audible boos were heard ringing around Stamford Bridge on Sky Sports’ live footage of the contest.
Is Lukaku joining Tottenham?
Well it certainly has legs.
Not only does Conte have memorable history with the Belgium international, but the Lilywhites desperately do need another number nine signed this summer, regardless of what happens with Harry Kane.
However, it’s difficult to see Chelsea voluntarily selling to Tottenham or anyone so long as government sanctions remain in place.
Even without them, Lukaku to the North Londoners is majorly unlikely given the rivalry between the two clubs.
Besides, based on Lukaku this season, Tottenham would be insane to spend massive money on the player because, as last night proved, he’s a different player to the one who dominated Italian football under Conte.
