One of the more bizarre Tottenham Hotspur transfer targets this summer is said to be Romelu Lukaku.
In April, it was reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport that Spurs manager Antonio Conte wanted a reunion with the Belgium international, whom he managed at Inter Milan.
Lukaku has struggled since returning to the Premier League following a £98 million transfer to Chelsea last summer, netting only 15 goals in 44 appearances across all competitions [Transfermarkt].
For the 28-year-old, that’s a relatively poor return.
And it’s no surprise that a Premier League commentator has named in his worst XI of the season, in regards to England’s top flight.
Ian Darke, who works for ESPN, included the reported Tottenham target as his focal point in his flop of the season picks.
Indeed, Of all the Tottenham Hotspur transfer targets, this is a real head scratcher, but apparently it’s genuine.
La Repubblica added in April that North London was considered a likely destination for the former Manchester United hitman.
And honestly, his relationship with Conte makes this pretty realistic.
Well, Chelsea would hate to sell to their London rivals, but they have to sell to someone and with the Tottenham manager personally knowing and liking Lukaku, well don’t rule out a stunning summer switch, despite Darke including him in this list.
