Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford scored an outstanding goal last night for England to seal a World Cup qualifying win over Slovakia.

The 19-year-old made up for an early error which allowed Slovakia to score an opener, with the game ending in a 2-1 victory for England.

Despite the early error, Rashford’s goal was reward for an impressive performance where he was England’s most dangerous player, with Tottenham’s Harry Kane an anonymous figure.

Rashford created six goalscoring chances, while the rest of the England team managed nine combined, with Kyle Walker coming closest with three.

The United striker managed three shots on target, more than any other England player.

Perhaps most impressive was a 97 per cent pass accuracy mark, compared with Dele Alli’s 76 per cent, with Rashford having only three fewer touches of the ball.

Unfortuantely for Rashford if it was not for his goal he would have been seen as a villain for being dispossessed in the lead up to Slovakia’s opener, but his determination to put it right saw him bounce back to score a vital winner.

He was not running around aimlessly trying to make up for it, but instead remained composed on the ball and offered a constant threat.

Still only 19, Manchester United and England are lucky to have him.
