Aston Villa’s on-loan midfielder Tom Cleverley impressed against his parent-club Manchester United’s fierce rivals Manchester City on Saturday.
For much of Saturday’s match between Aston Villa and Manchester City it looked as though Paul Lambert’s side would earn a hard-fought point. But with time running out goals from Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero kept Manuel Pellegrini’s side in touching distance of league leaders Chelsea.
But take nothing away from Villa; they fought from the first whistle to the last and on another day could have even snatched all three points against the reigning champions.
Nathan Baker was the standout Villa performer on the day, but Tom Cleverley also impressed against a side he knows well from his time at Manchester United.
The on-loan midfielder had a brilliant 94.64 per cent pass accuracy against the Blues, and while he failed to have any scoring attempts (on-target or otherwise) the England international influenced the match throughout.

The Villa midfielder touched the ball 73 times and made 15 forward passes and one key pass as he looked to unlock an impressive City defence.
Cleverley also won two tackles and made four interceptions, to prove to Villa that they would be wise to keep hold of him for the long-term and show United that he may have a future at Old Trafford after all.
