If he played every game, the statistics suggest Nemanja Matic could help Chelsea finish just one point off their Premier League record of 95 points.

Nemanja Matic has proved this season just how important he is to Chelsea, but the statistics emphasis just how key his presence on the field is.

The 26-year-old has been a revelation at Chelsea since re-signing just over a year ago and this season he has been absolutely pivotal to the Blues current league position. In fact, Jose Mourinho has only lost once in all competitions in games where he has been able to pick the Serbian for selection.

In the Premier League, the former Benfica man has managed a win percentage of 76% but most impressively a point per game average of 2.48 – a record which sees him top the charts of any regular starter in the top-flight.

How Matic compares to some of his Premier League rivals:

Chelsea look good for another Premier League title this season, their first since the 2009-10 season, but with Matic playing every game the statistics show they could have come within one point of their record.

Nevertheless, record or no record, after watching Manchester United and Manchester City swap the title over for the past four seasons, the Blues, Mourinho and Matic will just be desperate to see it back at the Bridge.
