According to The Telegraph, Georginio Wijnaldum has given Liverpool hope that he could end up staying at Anfield.
It’s claimed that Barcelona and Inter Milan have both shown an interest in Wijnaldum, but neither have pulled off a pre-contract agreement.
The door is now thought to be ‘open’ for Wijnaldum to sign a new deal and stay with Liverpool, despite it looking like he was heading for the exit.
Wijnaldum, 30, has started 28 Premier League games this season despite his contract situation, and has remained a key player under Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp is desperate to keep the Dutchman he branded ‘perfect’ in 2019, but there have been pretty reasonable concerns about giving him a new deal.
Wijnaldum turns 31 in November, and handing him a multi-year deal could see Liverpool lumped with paying big wages to a deteriorating player.

Of course, James Milner is an example in Wijnaldum’s favour, continuing to be a reliable squad member for Liverpool well into his 30’s.
Wijnaldum opening the door for Liverpool may mean that outside interest isn’t quite as rife as once expected, and Klopp may now be pushing for a deal to be done.
