Glenn Loovens
The long-serving former Owls captain was snapped up by Sunderland in time for the new campaign and has played nine times for the Mackems, who moved up to third in League One last weekend.
Ross Wallace
The Scottish winger signed for Fleetwood Town last month after a trial spell at Wigan Athletic came to nothing and has already made three outings for Joey Barton’s side.
Jake Kean
The experienced goalkeeper left Hillsborough without a Sheffield Wednesday appearance to speak of and has yet to find another club to take him on.
Jack Hunt
The right-back played against the Owls for Bristol City on Sunday, continuing his record of having started every league game since joining the Robins. According to some City fans, Hunt has proved a somewhat underwhelming recruit.
Jordan Rhodes
The striker has scored five goals in 14 games for loan club Norwich City, including one against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. Only one of Rhodes’ other strikes came in the league, although he appears to have plenty of admirers in Norfolk.
Jacob Butterfield
Picking up where he left off at Sheffield Wednesday, the midfielder is struggling to make the Derby County bench. He was however on target for the Rams’ Under-23 side earlier this month. And his goal wasn’t bad to be fair…
Frederico Venancio
Wednesday’s primary summer target (according to the Sheffield Star) signed permanently with Vitoria de Guimaraes with the Owls in the midst of a transfer embargo. Injury kept Venancio out of the side initially, and he has yet to feature in the league since his return.
George Hirst
The most controversial Hillsborough departure, Hirst has only scored once and assisted twice in seven games for OH Leuven, whom he is suspected of joining on the cheap ahead of a future move to Leicester City – the Belgian side’s affiliates, who would have been required to pay substantially more in compensation had he gone there directly.
Sean Clare
Yet to recover from the injury which has sidelined him since March, Clare at least has a club after signing for Hearts last month. The midfielder claimed he rejected Premier League interest in favour of a move to Scotland – again to Sheffield Wednesday’s financial detriment.
