Will Chelsea now move for Anderson Talisca, as he prepares for his Brazil debut?

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is a keen admirer of Anderson Talisca, and he may have been given further incentive to pursue a deal.

The Brazilian striker has been in superb form for Benfica since signing in the summer, netting nine goals in 14 appearances for the Portuguese side, including a winner over Monaco in the Champions League last week.

Last month Mourinho told SkySports: “They say Talisca is unknown, but he is only so unknown because he’s only not playing in England because he doesn’t have a work permit, if he had one, he would be here. I think Benfica hired well.”

His form has continued since then, and Talisca has now been rewarded with a call-up to Brazil’s national team. He is expected to be handed his debut in the upcoming friendlies away to Turkey and Austria.

The call-up is a major boost in terms of the striker potentially qualifying for a work permit, as at 20-years-old, an international for Brazil, he could easily be argued for as a ‘special talent’.

Arsenal and Liverpool have both been linked with the forward previously by the Mirror, and his call-up to the Selecao gives them the nod that a transfer is achievable, having as Mourinho described, previously not been.
