As far as loan players go, everybody is talking about Tottenham Hotspur gem Oliver Skipp.
The 20-year-old midfielder is on the brink of winning promotion to the Premier League with Norwich City and there’s a lot of Spurs fans who want him in Jose Mourinho’s senior side next season.
But there’s another dazzling loan player who Tottenham fans are forgetting about – Juan Foyth.
The 23-year-old joined the Lilywhites in 2017 for £8 million [The Daily Mail] and originally struggled under Mourinho, so much so that he was loaned to Villarreal last summer.
But the Argentina international is clearly a very promising player, like Skipp, and his performance on Thursday night illustrates as much.
Villarreal, coached by former Arsenal boss Unai Emery, beat Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 in Croatia to put one foot in the semi-final of the Europa League.
And Foyth posted a very domineering display for the Primera Division outfit.
The big centre-back, who has played in defensive midfield and right-back under Emery, stole the show with five interceptions, 12 duels won and winning all six of his attempted tackles.
In addition to that, the Tottenham prospect also managed a very impressive eight ball recoveries.
As a centre-back, Mourinho does not seem to rate Foyth all that highly, but he’ll be returning to Hotspur Way in a couple of months and it’ll be fascinating to see what the Portuguese has planned for him – if anything – next season.
