David Luiz has hailed Mikel Arteta for the ‘great example’ that he’s been setting at Arsenal.
Arteta joined the Gunners in December of 2019 in what was first job in senior management.
Despite being wet behind the ears in that respect, the Spaniard led Arsenal to FA Cup glory in his first half-a-season charge after replacing axed Unai Emery.
This season has proven a lot more challenging for the ninth-placed North Londoners, but a quarter-final tie with Slavia Prague in the Europa League still represents a chance of silverware – and a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Arteta celebrated his 39th birthday on Friday and here’s what Luiz sent his gaffer on Instagram:
Luiz, who was signed by Edu in an £8 million deal in 2019, is out of contract at the Emirates Stadium this summer, but it’s widely known that Arteta is a big fan of the leadership that the Brazilian brings on and off the field and therefore, it wouldn’t be a huge shock if the North Londoners hand him a one-year extension – especially if they win the Europa League.
